Statewide Gay Group to Host Public Officials & Candidates

at Lawyers Benefit featuring Judge Sebastian Patti

CHICAGO – Equality Illinois, the state’s largest organization advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights, will host public officials and candidates at lawyers benefit featuring Judge Sebastian Patti.

The 5th annual Lawyers for Diversity Barbecue, underwritten by nearly two dozen of Chicago’s largest law firms and businesses, will benefit the Equality Illinois Education Project, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), AIDS Legal Council of Chicago (ALCC), and the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC) Foundation. The evening will consist of a short program with cocktails, followed by a barbecue on Sidetrack’s private rooftop deck.

The key speaker this year will be the recently-appointed Illinois Appellate Court Justice Sebastian Patti. Past speakers have included Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne M. Burke, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.

The event will take place on Thursday, July 30th, at Sidetrack (3349 N. Halsted Street, Chicago), begining at 6:00 p.m., with valet parking available.

To RSVP or for additional information, please contact the Equality Illinois office at 773-477-7173.
